In order to go about fulfilling the above stated goals, the Board members and Rev. Jacobs actively pursued (1) seeking accurate information as to the nature of pathological gambling and its effects upon the victims and their families and associates; and (2) networking with existing outreach recovery groups.

Starting in January 2002, Janet attended several functions/meetings of Cincinnati Gamblers Anonymous (GA) and Gam-Anon. She has also attended a GA Regional Conference in Lexington, Kentucky, and GA meetings in Hamilton, Ohio and Indianapolis. In response to GRM's proactive interest in facilitating the establishment of a GA Meeting in southeast Indiana, GA representatives from the Cincinnati area attended, in March, a GRM-sponsored workshop (held at Tanner Valley UMC) during which much information about compulsive gambling was shared by GA members.

Subsequently, concern grew and GA members developed further interest in starting a new GA Meeting. GRM facilitated the locating of a meeting site at Aurora First UMC and provided area publicity for this Meeting's start-up. On May 4, the new GA Meeting (only one in SE Indiana and the only Saturday evening GA meeting in Greater Cincinnati) began its weekly meetings. These meetings continued for a year. They have since been replaced by once monthly Meetings of GA and Gam-Anon on the last Saturday of the month at 3:30 PM at Mt. Tabor UMC on US Rt. 50, located five miles west of Aurora.  Another Gam-Anon Meeting has developed from this Meeting ; and it is held the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays each month at 7:00 PM at Grand Ave. UMC in Connersville, Indiana.

In May 2002, GRM was officially designated a Columbus District Advance Special. The following September, GRM was named a South Indiana Conference Advance Special, as well. Since then, GRM workshops, community meetings, programs, pulpit presentations, and sharing of treatment information have taken place throughout the South Indiana Conference and points beyond. GRM Board members and their Director continue to pray for individuals combating the effects of pathological gambling AND for God's direction in this new "frontier ministry"!
